Be careful before starting to read any of Hattaway’s works: You may not be able to put the book down! His energetic, vivid, and fast-moving narratives carry you along. Backed by careful research and supported by notes when necessary, his telling of God’s mighty acts among the Chinese never fails to grip the reader with its drama, pathos, and sheer magnitude, reflecting both the long history and great diversity of this nation and its peoples. (Global China Center. G Wright Doyle)

In The China Chronicles, Paul Hattaway draws on more than 30 years’ experience in China and numerous interviews with church leaders to provide insight into how the Living God brought about the largest revival in the history of Christianity. With more than 18 million believers – the largest number in any province in China – Henan has emerged as the Christian heart and soul of the world’s most populated country. In this book, the fifth in the series, Hattaway records the many attempts to reach the people of Henan with the gospel.

The China Chronicles

Paul Hattaway, a native New Zealander, has served the Church in Asia for most of his life. He is an expert on the Chinese Church, and author of Operation China, the Revival in China series: Shandong; Guizhou; Zhejiang; and Tibet, and many other books. He and his wife Joy are the founders of Asia Harvest (), which supports thousands of indigenous missionaries and has provided millions of Bibles to spiritually hungry Christians throughout Asia.

Of earlier volumes in the series:

Well-researched … Hattaway’s knowledge of the Chinese Church is encyclopedic … this book is wonderfully challenging. — Patrick Forbes ― Christianity magazine

A welcome contribution … an exciting, whistlestop tour of 150 years of Christian revival and miracles in Shandong Province … there is no shortage of inspiring lives and events. — Lawrence Braschi ― Church Times
