Exploring Theological English: Reading, Vocabulary and Grammar for ESL/EFL, by Florence Scott, Cheri Pierson and Lonna Dickerson, and the accompanying Teacher’s Guide help non-native speakers of English to become more proficient in reading theological publications written in English. Although designed for classroom use, this textbook can also be used for self-study. Its primary objective is to help ESL/EFL learners acquire the key reading skills that good readers use every day. These include strategies or techniques for comprehending the type of language used in the classroom and in scholarly writing, developing a broad general vocabulary, and figuring out complex grammatical structures used in academic writing. Its secondary objective is to introduce important concepts and terminology used in theological writing.
